Dr. Barach has served as an expert witness
in civil cases in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and
Arizona. As chair of the International
Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation's Standards
of Practice Committee, Dr. Barach coauthored
the first treatment guidelines for
Dissociative Identity Disorder issued by any
professional association, and he has testified
several times concerning standard
of care issues for DID clients. He has also
provided deposition,
trial testimony, or independent medical examiner
reports concerning other issues such as wrongful
death, personal injury, and
psychological malpractice. Dr. Barach has served
as an expert for both plaintiffs and defendants. Since
September, 2006, Dr. Barach has been a full time
psychologist for the Cuyahoga
County Court of Common Pleas Psychiatric Clinic,
Cleveland, Ohio, where he conducts evaluations to assess
competency to stand
trial, sanity at the time of the act, mental
health factors relevant to mitigation of penalty,
eligibility for civil commitment, and to assist the Court in evaluating risk factors
for sexual recidivism.
